The Trendy Book Files
I almost can’t quite believe it’s been 15 months since I’ve added a new post to the blog. I thought many times about creating a what’s new/where have I been? post, but in all honesty life just got in the way and doesn’t that happen sometimes. While the blog hasn’t had much love in a long time, I have been active over on my Instagram so if you don’t already (shameless plug coming) please give me a follow over there.
Anyways me not posting in 15 months isn’t what I want the focus of this blog to be about. I wanted to introduce a new series on the blog that I’m really excited to share: The Trendy Book Files. A collection of blog posts dedicated to my favourite reads.
If you have been following me on Instagram than you may not know, but in 2022 I really got back into reading and I started to post my books journey over on my stories. You can check out my ‘books’ highlight on IG for a sneak peek.
Back in junior high and high school I used to read like crazy. I absolutely loved going to the library and finding the latest teen fiction book to read. I can remember the day in junior high when I started Twilight like it was yesterday… ha! I was never the kid that snuck out, but what I did used to do was stay up, way past what my parents thought was reasonable, to read till the wee hours in the morning. I remember being told to turn my light off, waiting till I could hear my parent’s door close then turning my light right back on and reading for hours, going to bed usually around 2 or 3 in the morning then getting up after 7 to go to school. Honestly I have no idea how I did that. If you know me now, you know I’ll proudly tell you I’m in bed at 8:30pm every night.
I was thinking a lot recently on why I got so heavily back into reading and I think part of it is because I really honed in on the types of books I love. I love a fiction historical book think like pre-1900s, and especially if it’s romance. And then the other books that I really got into are fantasy reads - again I’m hook line and sinker if there’s a romance in it. I think with both of these genres I just love how drastically different they are than my life. Both genres truly evoke the meaning of escapism for me. So over the past 2 years, I’ve read over 55 books and I’m excited to start sharing some reviews on here.
Don’t worry if the books thing isn’t for you, I’ll be getting back into my regular fashion, beauty, and lifestyle content with more home related posts as well. But, if you are interested in what books whisk me away to far off places and make me spend a full Sunday on the couch binge reading then this is the series for you!
With that I’m going to get writing about the series that started my recent love of reading again. I’ll give you a hint - bees!
xo,
V
