The Ultimate Girls Trip: Miami Edition

In October 2023, my best friend, her sister, and myself went to Miami, Florida for 5 days of beach time, music, and incredible food. The trip was born out of our mutual love of the Jonas Brothers and when they announced their tour, playfully called ‘The Tour’ we just had to go and Miami was our choice destination. While they did announce only a couple months later they were coming to Winnipeg, we were still excited for the fact we were heading to a sunnier and sandier location. So what did we get up to outside of the concert? Here’s the things we did and ate and where we stayed throughout our trip!

Where we stayed

The Confidante Hotel in Miami Beach. Located in Mid-town which was definitely more quiet than South Beach, you may recognize this hotel from Dua Lipa’s New Rules music video. My bestie found this place in her hunt for hotels and it was a cute spot, but the real winner was the beach space. It was absolutely stunning. Main downside was the pool was closed for renovations, but when you have a beach as stunning as Miami Beach just a few feet further away, you really can’t complain.

What we did

We explored the Fashion District during the day which was a goregous area packed with designer stores, cute cafes, restaurants, and Instagram worthy hangout spots. I even treated myself to a pair of Celine sunnies while there!

The Boardwalk and South Pointe Park Pier was another awesome way to spend time sightseeing basically all of Miami Beach. I think the most obvious thing about Miami Beach is you feel like your transported back into the 1950s and 60s. It was super cool to see that all the hotels and buildings mostly kept their original style.

Like I mentioned above our hotel’s pool was closed so we spent a lot of time at the beach. It was honestly one of the best beaches I’ve ever been to. The water was absolutely pristine and the sand was so soft. It also added to the vibes that the hotel’s beach furniture was so adorable and the food and drinks, while pricy, were super good.

A staple in Miami since the late 80s, Bayside Marketplace was a neat indoor/outdoor mall right near the Miami Port that housed tons of shops and restaurants. It was cool to check this out!

One of my favourite activities was the Island Queen Millionaire Row Boat Tour. This was nice 90-minute boat tour down Millionaire Row were we got to see a lot of Miami and Miami Beach alongside some gorgeous celebrity homes!

What we ate

My favourite brunch spot we checked out was Bacon Bitch. Not only was it super cute, but the food was so good. I got this burrata bacon toast and it was insanely good. If you are in the Miami Beach area you def have to check this place out!

This was definitely a bucket list moment when we had dinner at Nobu. Located in the Nobu Hotel in Miami Beach, this world-renowned Japanese-Peruvian restaurant was my favourite meal of the trip. I just have the say the Yellowtail Jalapeño was incredible!

On the day of my besties birthday, we celebrate at the Michelin-starred Korean Steakhouse: COTE. Not only was the dinner so so so tasty, but the whole dinner was an experience. It’s pricy, but the Butcher’s Feast at $74 USD/person was much more reasonable option and a perfect way to try multiple items on the menu.

The last food place I want to mention is Smorgasburg Miami. This was a super cool food market that has so many different options. I ended up going with the The Lazy Oyster spot. I got the lobster roll and Rockerfeller Oysters. It was my first time having a lobster roll and it DID not disappoint!

In the end this was such a fun 5 days in the sun, while I would caution you it’s quite an expensive place, it was a cool spot and the beach was just gorgeous. Also major shoutout to my travel buddies who planned the trip and found these awesome spots to go to!
